Topics will include safety considerations, tree selection, felling tree, blocking log, splitting blocks, design/layout considerations, cutting bowl blanks, turning green-wood bowl, coring bowl blanks, drying green wood, sharpening, mounting options, turning techniques, and finishing. Some topics will be described and/or demonstrated only. Green wood can be turned to finished form, or, slowly dried over time and then remounted and turned dry. Each participant will have the opportunity to turn at least two bowls; a green-wood bowl ready for drying, a pre-dried green bowl to finish. As time permits, various alternative designs, from functional to decorative, may be demonstrated and/or discussed in addition to the hands-on class projects, such as a winged bowl. This is a three day workshop. Each day will begin at 9:00 am and end at around 4:00 pm. The workshop will be held at Intersections Wood Collaborative at 299 10th Street E., Owen Sound.
