Topics include wood selection, design considerations, tool selection, tool safety, sharpening, splitting billets from a block, band sawing spoon blanks, various carving techniques, wet versus dry carving, and finishing. This workshop will focus on hand tools, primarily knives including traditional hook knives. Axe carving and power carving tools will be demonstrated. Each participant will have the opportunity to make at least 2 different styles of spoons. This is a two day workshop. Each day will begin at 9:00 am and end at around 4:00 pm. The workshop will be held at Intersections Wood Collaborative at 299 10th Street E., Owen Sound. Beginners welcome! Workshop Cost: $200. Materials fee of $25.00 payable to instructor at start of class.
