The Georgian Bay Symphony was founded in 1972 by a small group of dedicated area musicians. Since then the GBS has grown to an outstanding community orchestra with over 60 volunteer members, from across Grey and Bruce counties, and a core group of professionals under the musical direction of François Koh. The GBS performs five “Main Series” concerts each season. Our main concerts are supported by over 400 season subscribers with average attendance of over 650 patrons.
The Symphony supports regional youth musicians in a variety of ways. Supports the local Kiwanis Music Festival with several awards for string players as well as offering us of instruments when needed. The Symphony awards its own bursaries to young musicians who perform in the orchestra.
